MoreZine #2
I drew this one right after I came back from finding out I fractured my bone and more than likely tore my ACL. Doctor wasn’t sure at the time but said where the bone fractured is typically correlated with a torn ACL , and yup after a few more expensive hospital trips I got an MRI and we found out it was almost completely torn apart.

So this is how it all went down. The plan was to hit three parks on a Saturday with all the homies, we started off with the skatepark on the Colombia river. I’ve never really known the name of this park and mostly everyone I know calls it the Blue Ramp park or Columbia river Skatepark. Everything was going great, homies came through all of us were skating and having a good time. Caught a couple clips and were ready to move on to the next.
We headed out to our second destination Kennewick Skatepark. This is where it went down hill, I should’ve taken it easy and rested for the third park but I wanted to ollie off of the stair set so badly for some reason. It was only a four stair but man , no run up with a slight uphill is not easy. I could make all the excuses I want but in the end my body just couldn’t do it.
I ollied off the stair set and when I landed my leg bent in and I heard a pop and felt a bolt of electricity run up my leg to my chest. When I tried to get up I felt something was wrong, not immediate pain but swelled up quick asf. I asked the homie William to pick up my board and they knew something was wrong.

At the moment that it happened , I was hoping it was just a really bad sprain. I chugged a tall can Raspberry Twisted tea and called my girl to let her know I had hurt myself but didn’t know how bad. The homies said they were calling it a day there and I asked if they were down to go eat. We ended up eating Panda Express and I drove my nephew home and then went home to ice my knee. I couldn’t sleep from how bad it hurt and just kept grabbing ice packs switching them out whenever they defrosted. The next morning my girl had gone to work and she said I should ask my brother for a ride to the hospital so I did.

Still thinking it was just badly sprained , I limped my way into the hospital with my brother who was kind enough to take me in. Doctors took x-rays and let me know the bad news. I had a fractured bone and where it had fractured typically meant an ACL tear. The doctor was kinda shocked that I even walked in but it was more limping than walking to be honest.

So after some talking I was referred to a specialist and given some time off in the meantime. After seeing the specialist and , getting an MRI a month later. I found out my ACL was hanging on by a thread, and my meniscus had a slight tear as well.
(At this point, when making this ZINE I hadn’t gone through surgery yet so I was still in bed, in pain, waiting to get back up on my feet.)

Wearing that brace was nothing compared to wearing the metal brace after surgery , that one sucked even more. If you think this drawing is bad the original pen and ink drawing is even worse, but having a-lot of fun with making these. I’ll be back skating soon till then I’ll focus on more of these and more drawings.
